How you’ll be involved:
As part of our team, you’ll be helping us navigate the world of impact funding, grants, and critical finance functions. You’ll play a key role in improving our company’s finance and accounting systems, and you will have considerable ownership and influence at OnDeck. We are looking for a passionate finance students to join our team through paid internships, with the possibility of joining the team permanently following a successful internship.
What you’ll be doing:
OnDeck is being offered tremendous amounts of funding, and you will be responsible for helping us bring it onboard! As an early member on our finance team, you’ll play a critical role in helping OnDeck manage the financial planning and challenges that come with scaling a fast-moving startup. This position offers a great opportunity for those who are looking for a career in finance, entrepreneurship, and impact financing.
Specifically, you will:
Be responsible for planning and executing $10k-$500k funding opportunities, alongside our executive team.
Create project timelines, roadmaps, and budgets.
Ensure robust & efficient finance strategy at OnDeck.
Prepare OnDeck for incoming impact investment, grants, and other financing.
Map out the impact financing landscape, work with our team to identify and pursue strategic opportunities.
Create new finance techniques, strategy, and documentation.
Create the financial documentation needed for incoming impact investment, philanthropy, and other financing.
Miscellaneous finance tasks related to scaling OnDeck as a fast-moving startup.

How we work:
We are a lean & fast startup: things move quickly and you will get significant ownership of mission-critical tasks.
A time commitment of 10-20 hours/week is expected.

We work hard to ensure a supportive and collaborative space where everyone loves coming to work.
We love snacks, team food adventures are likely.
Speaking of “coming to work”, we work hybrid.
In person 2-3 days/week at UBC Point Grey and Robson Square campuses.
Flexibility - Want to go traveling with friends around the country? No problem, as long as you take your laptop with you and are able to continue working, we can work together to accommodate.
Minimum qualifications:
Due to the funding of this role, you must be:
A student at a Canadian post-secondary institution.
A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred.
Legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship.
Preferred qualifications:
A passion for startups, finance, impact finance, and solving business challenges.
Experience in finance, and project management.
Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to work autonomously.
Compensation:
This role pays $17.50 / hour.
